The worship tradition of our weekly
Wednesday night service began many years ago in the ecumenical
French monastic community
called Taizé. In this tradition, worship is a time
of quiet meditation, reflection, hearing God’s word,
and singing prayer.
Over time, we have adapted and re-adapted this
tradition
at MCC San Francisco, ever embracing transformation in
worship as we seek transformation in ourselves and in our world.
Sing, light candles,
pray, or meditate: you are invited to participate as the
Spirit moves you. There is repetition in the words of the music,
there are many periods of silence, and the readings are read
slowly — all so that we may have a deep quiet grow
in our hearts. Then we may be still and be at peace in the
presence of God.
