In and near many large cities, there are MCC churches
and other churches with inclusive theologies which can provide
a church home for your spiritual growth and opportunities for worship,
prayer and service. Inclusive theology churches are prevalent in
Episcopal, Unitarian and United Church of Christ denominations.
In cities with larger gay populations, there may be Lutheran, Methodist
or even Roman Catholic churches that soft peddle the divisive rhetoric
and theology in order to make church a more accepting experience
for not only gays but women and more diverse ethnic and racial
groups.
If you are interested in exploring a fuller examination of biblical
scripture involving homosexuality and church interpretations, seek
assistance and direction from MCC or other inclusive church clergy.
MCC membership classes and periodic programming may often be a
source of further insight. The Cathedral of Hope website
provides a more in-depth discussion of Christianity and Homosexuality.
Exploration of The Course in Miracles and study groups within
many communities may also be a source for inclusive spirituality
dialogue and networking. Additional book sources for inclusive
exploration include:
- Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch
- Our Tribe by Nancy Wilson
- We Were Baptized Too: Claiming God's Grace for Lesbians
and Gays by Marilyn Bennett Alexander
Please browse the Other Links section
of our Website for links to other MCC churches, national religious
organizations, other Bay Area "welcoming and affirming" churches
and gay spirituality resources of interest.
