The other day, I was asked why I always started my writings
with that greeting. I told that individual that it is indeed a good
morning. It
is indeed a new day, a new wakening, a new way of looking at life. That
is what TransSpirit is all about. We are a gathering of individuals that
are living our lives as fully and as completely as it is possible to
do. We come from every background possible. We come from every ethnic
group. We are far along in our transition, we are just beginning to transition,
we are just beginning to question our gender. It matters not where we
are on the spectrum of things, or where we are going. What matters is
that we communicate, that we share, that we have one thing in common – that
spirituality that comes from a belief or commitment to the Divine, however
we perceive it.
We gather together each month, share a meal, share our thoughts, share
our hearts. We are not exclusive – anyone is welcome who can bring
a new outlook, a new approach, a new thought for us to explore. Our loose
outline is entitled “A Journey of Gender”, and in the months
ahead, this outline can bring us to a place where we feel comfortable
sharing with others that have experienced similar things to our current
situations. The whole point of
TransSpirit is to give transpeople
the opportunity to share in a non-threatening environment, where we live
out the credo that Rev. Nixon begins each service with, when she says, “No
matter who you are, where you are from, you re welcome in this place.” We
want to embody this.
Join us as we share together. There will be laughter. Likely there will
be tears. But there will always be love. We want you to be a part of
this program. You will be glad you did.
