In looking around our Castro community, homelessness is increasingly
obvious. While there are efforts citywide and by a Castro consortium
of businesses and community interests to bring more effective solutions
to this problem, the homeless still are hungry every day.
In November 1997, MCCSF started our Simply Supper program. This program
is designed to meet a need in the Castro -- people who do not have
the resources for a necessary meal. This is a simple solution to
a very complex problem, but we know that doing nothing is unacceptable.
-
What is Simply Supper? A food program in the Castro
that provides nutritious meals to hungry people.
-
Who eats at Simply Supper? Anyone who is hungry. We
are currently serving 60-70 meals each evening of the program.
-
When is Simply Supper? Tuesday at the Prevention Point
Needle Exchange J Church Site from 6:00 - 8:00 PM; Wednesday
and Friday at 150 Eureka Street from 4:00 - 5:00 PM.
-
How is Simply Supper Supported? Through contributions
generously given to Simply Supper through the Metropolitan Community
Foundation.
