Congregational Care

Valuing Community, Caring For One Another

At MCCSF, we value community and care for one another, especially those of us who are going through a time of crisis or need.

Under the direction of our Associate Pastor, Rev. Jeff Bert, we seek to provide care for those who find themselves in spiritual, emotional, or other need. This is provided in a variety of ways:

  • Through the direct care of our pastors
  • Through care provided by trained Congregational Care ministers
  • Through care provided informally by caring individuals and groups in MCCSF

If you or someone you know is in need of care, we invite you to contact Rev. Jeff at jbert@mccsf.org or 415.865.2761. As appropriate, Rev. Jeff or Rev Lea may assign a Congregational Care minister or other person or group to provide skillful care and support. Referrals to outside resources might also be made.

Our Mission

An MCCSF community where all feel valued and cared for, particularly in difficult times.

The Congregational Care Team exists to provide spiritual, emotional and practical support to MCCSF congregants and others in our community who are experiencing spiritual, emotional or physical challenges, or who are feeling marginalized.

Goals for 2009:

Training. Recruit and train a team of committed volunteers to provide skillful care and support to those in spiritual, emotional or physical difficulties.

Ongoing Ministry:

In collaboration with, and at the direction of, the MCCSF pastoral staff, the Congregational Care team will:

  • meet emergent and ongoing care needs of congregants and other individuals, as assigned by pastors
  • conduct follow-up phone conversations or correspondence with individuals who have not been present in our community
  • provide feedback or alert to pastoral staff, as caring “eyes and ears,” of congregants who are in need of care or help
  • provide other forms of caring service to congregants in need, such as transportation or resources

Promotion of Team:

We intend to help our congregation to be aware of the team’s availability for those who may need to avail themselves of our service.

Diverse beliefs. Common values. A home for queer spirituality.
